The Reiki Series

The new series is inspired by Reiki sessions I had with my dear friend. While she was working on me I was seeing brilliant color, shapes and inner atmospheres. The world it took me to was so peaceful and healing.      

Color has such an effect on me, and it was facinating to close my eyes and see another rich intense world that existed without my conscious mind being aware of it. When we dove in, the experience was transforming.

 I would travel as if in a suspended dream, I felt free and light, as I would relax into it, the colors would morf from one to another, at times forming shapes.

shapes would reveal themselves and I came to understand there meaning later, but during the experience alway felt safe and protected.

Travel For Inspiration...Tuscany!

It has taken me two weeks to digest the many elements of inspiration that fill you up in Tuscany.

Tuscany has been a destination for artists throughout history, however,  I was not prepared for this overwhelming visual experience!

A group of 12 artists, led by Lisa Pressman, head to Tuscany to study abstraction.

Not being an abstract artist,  I was going for the landscapes...

I would dabble and play with abstraction but not be married to the idea. Its was an exploration in form, color, texture.

Golden light everywhere…. its spellbinding!

The light, the food, the people were unforgettable!

I'm still under the golden spell.

I'll be painting, which is my best way to communicate...should be interesting to see the new pallet.  Need to head to Gerry’s for more shades of yellow and gold.  I'll post the results.

Maplewood Restaurant Week

The newest collection captures the ethereal mood of the season with a misty soft vale over the landscape. The works have a dream-like quality with pale hues of blue green and lavenders. The Beech trees hanging onto there golden leaves all winter are peaking through in each of the paintings.... Giving us both a visual destination and a feeling of hope, endurance and beauty.

The new works are acrylic, pastel and encaustic… all were inspired once again from our local weather, trees, mountains and fields.

To capture natures essence and
communicate it with my painting.
To consciously avoid elaboration,
rather leave a soft mark that allows
the viewer to fill in the rest....
